Russian film “Unclenching his fists” was not shortlisted for the Oscar – RBC

The film by the Russian director Kira Kovalenko “Unclenching his fists” was not included in the short-list of candidates for the Oscar. This follows from messages American Film Academy.

In total, the jury selected 15 films that are nominated for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Film nomination. The list includes paintings from Austria, Germany, Finland, Denmark, Kosovo, Spain, Norway, Mexico, Iran, Iceland, Japan, Panama, Bhutan and Belgium.

Nominations for the 94th Academy Awards will be announced on February 8 next year.

At the end of October, the head of the Russian Oscar Committee Pavel Chukhrai announced the nomination of “Unclenching his fists” for the Oscar. “The picture was a resonant film among colleagues, everyone celebrated it, was at various festivals, was shown at internal ones, it was seen by many filmmakers – this is the first thing. And secondly, she had international recognition, ”he said, noting that she has the most chances of winning out of all those discussed by the committee. The organizers of the “Oscar” included the picture in the list of nominees at the beginning of December; by that time, more than 90 films had been presented in the nomination.
