Completely new entities have recently become the targets of denial-of-service attacks. The Cybersecurity Center urges all organizations to be prepared for attacks, as it does not think they will stop there. Denial of service attacks are an easy-to-implement and spectacular attack technique, and they often get attention in the media as well, states the Cybersecurity Center of the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom in its press release. It says denial-of-service attacks are a theme in this year’s telecommunications threats as well. Last week, several Finnish websites were temporarily unusable due to denial-of-service attacks carried out by hackers with or with a Russian background. The websites of several cities, as well as the Bank of Finland, Varusteleka and Verkkokauppa.com, were affected by the attacks.
