A spokesman for a local pro-Russian group said Bardin’s car was blown up by Ukrainian resistance fighters conducting sabotage operations and reconnaissance. The perpetrators have not been caught. Kiev has not claimed the attack, which was committed in broad daylight. Berdyansk is located on the Sea of Azov, southwest of Mariupol.
