Russia will formally annex Donbas, Kherson and Zaporizhia tomorrow

Russia will formally annex this Friday the four regions of Ukraine that are under the control of your Army: Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia. In these four regions questionable annexation referendums were held between Friday the 23rd and Tuesday the 27th, the result of which, according to the official Russian news agency RIA Novosti, was 97% in favor of the ‘yes’ vote.

As announced on Thursday by the Kremlin, the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, will sign this Friday at 3:00 p.m. the decree of annexation of these four regions that represent 15% of the Ukrainian territory. With this official recognition, Moscow follows the same path that it followed in 2014 with the annexation of the Crimean peninsula, also in the territory of Ukraine.

In addition to the signing, an act to celebrate the annexation is scheduled to be held in the Red Square of the Russian capital. Next to the stage, there is already a banner that reads: “Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson, Zaporizhia are Russia!”

The result of the referendums will have no Legal validity outside Russia, since international humanitarian law prohibits the occupying powers from changing the territorial sovereignty of the territories conquered on the battlefield
