Russia blames Ukrainian saboteurs for latest attacks in Crimea

A week after an alleged Ukrainian attack on a Russian military base in occupied Crimea, a weapons store at another military facility was hit by a series of explosions. Russian authorities blamed “sabotage” and stated that a fire triggered the explosions in the Dzhankoi area. In addition, another fire hit a power station and a railway track was damaged.

A series of explosions last week destroyed countless Russian warplanes at a Black Sea base. on the Crimean coast. Ukraine did not admit that attack. However, presidential office adviser Mykhailo Podolyak described the latest incident as “demilitarization in action,” saying the blasts were not accidental.

Crimea was invaded from Ukraine and then annexed by Russia in early 2014. Russia gave no indication of the type of sabotage that had taken place in Tuesday’s attack. However, the FSB security service reported that Ukrainian saboteurs also blew up six pylons inside Russia this month.
