Russia on Monday summoned the United States ambassador to Russia and protested “unacceptable” statements by President Joe Biden about his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
Biden last week called Putin a war criminal, a “murderous dictator” and a “true criminal waging an immoral war against the Ukrainian people”. Russia’s foreign ministry warned on Monday that Biden’s remarks would strain Russia-US relations to the point of breaking.
The Kremlin has previously called Biden’s allegations “personal insults” stemming from “irritability, fatigue and forgetfulness”.
