Russia also partly closes gas tap to Italy | Financial

According to Italian energy company Eni, Gazprom has cut its gas supply to the southern European country by 15%. Gazprom did not give reasons for the decision, according to Eni. It is also not clear whether the gas tap will open fully again after Wednesday. Italy is trying to reduce that dependence and has already concluded deals with, among others, Algeria and Egypt for more gas. Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi is currently in Israel to discuss gas deliveries.

Both Italy and Germany are highly dependent on gas supplies from Russia for their energy needs. At the time of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Italy was dependent on Russia for about 40 percent of its gas needs

At the end of last month, our country had to deal with the turning off of the gas tap by Russia. Refusing payments in rubles to Gazprom put an end to gas supplies at GasTerra, the gas trader owned by Shell, Esso Nederland and the Dutch state, among others.

Other EU countries have also been boycotted by the Russian state-owned company. The gas tap also closed in Finland, Denmark, Poland and Bulgaria.
