George Russell is entering his fifth season in Formula 1 this year. The Mercedes driver, who began his career at Williams, has already gained some experience on the world’s F1 circuits. Time, then, to arrange the prices of the current calendar according to the tops and flops. Three Grands Prix don’t really come off well for the young Brit.
Because Formula 1 is taking an unexpectedly long break due to the cancellation of the Chinese Grand Prix without replacement, the F1 drivers have time to do things that would otherwise not be possible. For example, Mercedes equipped its driver George Russell with a large board on which he could rank the 23 racetracks of the Formula 1 season from good to bad.
Previously, however, Russell had to recognize the Grands Prix by means of the respective graphically displayed route, with one course giving him somewhat surprising problems: Monaco. After some turning of the Monaco overview, the Brit found the solution.
“A great, great track. I would put it in the top category,” said Russell about the traditional course. “Because of the challenges that the race brings with it, Monaco doesn’t make it to the top.”
Russell doesn’t particularly like three Formula 1 courses
On the other hand, it was clear to the Mercedes driver which Grands Prix he didn’t like at all. “I loved Mexico, the fans are great, the city is fantastic, the circuit … is not my favorite circuit,” he said after a long thought, putting Mexico in the flop category, followed by a “sorry”.
In the end, Azerbaijan with Baku and the Red Bull Ring also found themselves there. “It’s probably the best circuit on the calendar, but it’s not the most exciting circuit in the world to drive, I’ll rate it ‘moderate’,” he said of Baku. “I’m sorry”.
The Red Bull Ring, on the other hand, got its place at the bottom simply because of the name of its worst competitor.
