“Running up that Hill” marches towards the top of the charts: Kate Bush says thank you

No Instagram, no Twitter, no Facebook – Kate Bush stays true to herself. She prefers to turn on hers personal website to their fans. On June 5, Kate Bush made an official statement about her song “Running up that Hill” storming towards the top of the charts thanks to the Netflix series “Stranger Things”. She thanked her old and new fans. The 1985 song is currently number 8 on the UK Singles Chart and number 8 in America on the New Hot 100 – her biggest hit overseas to date, 38 years after the song was first released.

“You may have heard that the first installment of the amazing, immersive show ‘Stranger Things’ has released on Netflix,” the statement begins. It has previously been reported that the Brit is a fan of Stranger Things. Kate Bush continues, “[On the show]…there’s the song ‘Running up that Hill’ that the young fans brought to life.” She says it’s all “very exciting.” Kate Bush thanked everyone who supported her. She would, like everyone, be “waiting with bated breath” for the second part of the fourth season.

“Running up that Hill” covered over and over again

“Running up that Hill” was the lead single from the 1985 album HOUNDS OF LOVE. At that time, the song made it to number three in the UK charts and the German hit parade. Over the years it never seemed to have lost its relevance and was repeatedly re-set to music. Whether a trashy disco version of Eleastic band or a sensitive rock cover by Placebo – “Running up that Hill” found new artists and genres. On the occasion of Pride month, the German singer Kim Petras also tried her hand at a cover.
