Rumors: United star traded “intensively” at Borussia Dortmund

In its search for a new left-back, Borussia Dortmund is reportedly looking at the English Premier League. A former Spanish national player in the ranks of Manchester United is said to have taken a shine to BVB.

BVB is working “intensively” on the signing of Sergio Reguilón. This is what “Bild” wants to know.

The Madrid-born six-time Spanish international is currently lacing up his boots for Manchester United; the 27-year-old is currently on loan to the Red Devils from Tottenham Hotspur. His contract in London ends in summer 2025.

According to the report, the chances of a deal despite the loan are not bad. When the engagement was agreed, Reguilón is said to have secured a clause that would allow him to cancel the loan. Given the limited playing time at Old Trafford, this could be a tempting option.

Due to limited financial options, BVB is said to be looking for a loan deal in the winter. According to “Bild”, a purchase option will be agreed upon for the summer.

There is a huge need for action at BVB

At first glance, the scenario seems to make perfect sense for all parties involved. Reguilón plays a relatively minor role at United, he was never really happy at Spurs since his move from Real Madrid in the summer of 2020 and the need is enormous in Dortmund.

With Julian Ryerson, a BVB option in the left defensive position will probably be missing for a longer period of time, and Ramy Bensebani, who was signed before the season, will also be with Algeria at the Africa Cup from mid-January to mid-February.

However, it can be questioned that Reguilón can really help BVB. The Spaniard has been looking for form since January 2022 and has been unable to secure a regular place at Spurs, on loan to Atlético Madrid or currently at United.
