Rumor: Lotka to BVB

Is Marcel Lotka’s move from Hertha BSC to BVB faster than expected?

According to information from “transfermarkt.de”, the Berliners are letting the keeper go after talks with those responsible at Borussia Dortmund. Hertha sports director Fredi Bobic had previously announced that he wanted to draw a contractual clause with the help of which he wanted to bind the goalkeeper in the long term, although the transfer to BVB II had long been reported as fixed at this point.

The change is not official yet. There are no reports from either club.

Lotka did not expect a quick decision about his future until the very end. The 20-year-old goalkeeper had announced his move to the BVB reserve team in March before he rose from number five to number one in Berlin.

After his good performances for Hertha in the Bundesliga, his current employer insisted on the Polish junior national goalkeeper staying on until the end. Lotka herself did not seem averse to staying in Berlin.

Bobic recently feared a legal dispute with BVB. “I still don’t know what’s going to happen,” said Lotka after the 2-0 win in the relegation against Hamburger SV, with which the Berliners secured relegation.

Lotka was unable to play because of the concussion he sustained in the last regular game of the season in a 2-1 loss to Dortmund. Lotka reported that he still had a flickering in front of his eyes and was banned from exercising.

In the goalkeeper hierarchy, regular Alexander Schwolow was clearly ahead of Lotka until his muscle injury in the spring. In the relegation, the Dane Oliver Christensen celebrated his professional debut for the Berliners. In addition, two goalkeepers were under contract at Hertha in veteran Rune Jarstein and Nils Körber.
