Raphael Guerreiro’s free transfer from Borussia Dortmund to FC Bayern was already considered practical. Now it has also been officially confirmed.
Rather casually, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, a new member of the Munich supervisory board, mentioned the personality of Raphael Guerreiro as a new player for the coming season on the “DAZN” microphone.
“We got very good games with Guerreiro and Laimer. I like Laimer very much. He brings in his very physical and aggressive element. I think he fits in very well in Bayern Munich’s midfield,” said Rummenigge, who Was at the Atatürk Stadium in Istanbul on Saturday night to watch the Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milan.
In the run-up, there was already consistent media reports about the agreement between FC Bayern and Guerreiro, who had previously played for Borussia Dortmund for seven years. However, an official confirmation was still pending.
In addition, the long-time boss of the German record champions explained where he sees further need for action in terms of squad planning at the German champions: “You gave up Lewandowski, that was at least 50 goals across all competitions, which you simply missed. I think we will what have to do. And the rest: calmly!”
Rummenigge and Hoeneß as critics and advisers
Rummenigge and Honorary President Uli Hoeneß would initially participate in squad planning as members of a small group until a new sports director was found. “As soon as we have a sports director or sports director, Uli and I will also retire. We will examine things critically from time to time, that’s necessary.”
The Munich team parted ways with CEO Oliver Kahn and sports director Hasan Salihamidzic immediately after winning their eleventh championship title in a row. Rummenigge then moved to the supervisory board, with Jan-Christian Dreesen succeeding Kahn.
“We’ll do it calmly,” said Rummenigge on the search for a successor to Salihamidzic. The most important criterion for the new sports director is his “quality”. The TV broadcaster “Sky” recently reported that ex-Bayern player Max Eberl is still the favorite. The 49-year-old currently works for RB Leipzig as a sports director, having previously been the lead manager at Borussia Mönchengladbach for years.
