Krista Pärmäkoski remained the best Finn in ninth place in the 20-kilometer freestyle pursuit race in Ruka. Kerttu Niskanen was 12th.
Sweden took a double victory in the race. Frida Karlsson skied to an overwhelming first place before an equally overwhelming second place Ebba Andersson.
Norway ranked third Tiril Udnes Weng missed the lead by no less than one minute and 11 seconds.
Karlsson started from second place after Saturday’s traditional competition. He caught Andersson, who started from the top, skied alone with him for a long time and ran away at the beginning of the last lap.
Pärmäkoski started the competition with a good position after finishing fifth on Saturday. At the start, he was 18 seconds ahead of the leader.
Niskanen had to catch up with the main group from a longer back distance, as he finished tenth on Saturday. In the end, the forces were not enough for the podium battle.
