Rüdiger voted into Champions League Team of the Year

Berlin (AP) – National soccer player Antonio Rüdiger is the only German in the team of the year in the Champions League. The 29-year-old Chelsea defender was selected alongside three Liverpool players, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson.

The decision was made by a team from UEFA’s Technical Observer Panel based on last season’s performances in the premier division.

The best goalkeeper is Thibaut Courtois from Champions League winners Real Madrid, as the European Football Union announced on Tuesday. The Belgian made the biggest contribution to the 1-0 final triumph against Liverpool FC with numerous brilliant saves.

In attack, Real winning goalscorer Vinicius Junior, his team-mate Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappé from Paris Saint-Germain were named among the best. In midfield, the choice fell on Kevin De Bruyne from English champions Manchester City, Fabinho from Liverpool FC and Luka Modric from Real Madrid. Both finalists each have four players.
