Ruben Nicolai and his new TV show with dominoes beat Matthijs van Nieuwkerk. The difference is not large, but for a TV star like Matthijs it is of course a bit painful.
The playful TV show Domino Challenge with Ruben Nicolai started on Saturday evening at eight o’clock with 873 thousand viewers (19% market share) on RTL 4. With that, he took gold at that time and stayed ahead of Matthijs van Nieuwkerk. That presenter attracted 804 thousand viewers (17%) to NPO 1 with his quiz The Connection.
Exchangeable Matthijs
For a real TV star like Matthijs it is of course painful that he is overtaken by a younger colleague with some dominoes. You may wonder whether Matthijs should even venture to present a TV quiz at all, because there is no genre where the presenter on duty is as interchangeable as in the quiz genre.
The other most watched programs at half past eight were Here Are De Van Rossems with 785 thousand viewers (16%) on NPO 2 and Code van Coppens with 429 thousand viewers (9%) on SBS 6.
Football on one
The Champions League final between Liverpool – Real Madrid, which only started at half past nine due to disturbances in Paris, was the big winner in prime time with 1.5 million viewers (33%) on RTL 7. The review only started after 11.30 pm and attracted 639 thousand viewers (25%).
The final was won by Real Madrid. It is the fourteenth time that the Spanish club takes the prize. “This is unheard of. What else can I say? I am speechless,” said coach Carlo Ancelotti. “We have a team with a lot of quality and, above all, resilience.”
Tijl does not score
The most watched football alternatives were Even Tot Hier with 1.4 million viewers (26%) on NPO 1, The 1 Percent Quiz by Tijl Beckand with 564 thousand viewers (11%) on RTL 4, Nieuwsuur with 450 thousand viewers (9%) on NPO 2 and Het Roer Om with 386 thousand viewers (7%) on SBS 6.
Tijl therefore scores quite disappointing with his new quiz, but there is a good chance that next week – without a football final on the other hand – more people will watch. It will not be a real hit, because there are currently a lot of quizzes on TV. SBS 6 will also start tonight with Sander Lantinga’s Vier is Teveel.
Viewing figures
Programs that also failed to make the top 15 include Shownieuws (457 thousand), Laughing at home videos (439 thousand) and Studio Sport (358 thousand).
