Ruben Nicolai bashed by Martien Meiland: ‘Annoying man’

Ruben Nicolai gets a snub from an unexpected quarter. He is called ‘the most annoying presenter’ in the Netherlands by TV colleague Martien Meiland. “It’s a man I have nothing to do with.”

It is among celebrities in general not done to speak negatively about each other, but Martien Meiland has no interest in that. His tear-off calendar is full of nasty stabs to colleagues from the profession. For example, he unequivocally portrays Ruben Nicolai as ‘the most annoying presenter’ in the Netherlands.

Martien bashs Ruben

Martien is confronted by the Weekend. An observant journalist from the entertainment magazine was leafing through the tear-off calendar of the Meilandjes and found the sneer on the page of January 8.

The reality star has absolutely no regrets. When asked about his aversion to Ruben, he replies: “Yes, also such a man with whom I have nothing. Ruben must be a nice man and a very sweet father. But it is not that I think: there will be a TV program from Ruben tonight, let me sit down for that.”

‘I think he’s so boring!’

Marco Borsato is also tackled hard by Martien. That is the ‘worst singer’ in the country, he thinks. “Marco doesn’t touch me. I think I’ve seen him perform in Noordwijkerhout and then I think: no, no. You can sometimes have that, I just don’t have anything with it. Marco doesn’t captivate me, not his voice, not the songs. No.”

And finally Maarten van Rossem? “Oh, I find him so boring. And that hangs in that chair and never even a bit positive. It’s always negative, I don’t like negative people at all. Just try to be happy. And then he is announced, like: ‘Here he is: Maarten van Rossum!’ Now and then he looks into that camera… No.”
