Ruben Nicolai against World Cup even further down: ‘This costs tons’

The decline in ratings of The Big Show with Ruben Nicolai is unstoppable. His scores are falling even further against the World Cup. “And this program costs RTL 4 about €300,000 a week!”

Ruben Nicolai thought he was making a big step in his career with the presentation of his own personality show The Big Show. That has come true, but unfortunately it is a big step backwards. Compared to his previous presentation job Lego Masters, the viewing figures of this program are a lot lower. And the outlook is bad.

Ruben is disappointed

After 1 million, 830,000, 801,000 and 764,000 viewers, The Big Show only had 709,000 viewers (14 percent market share) on RTL 4 yesterday. , but according to viewing figures expert Tina Nijkamp it is still seriously disappointing.

The former SBS boss writes to her ratings juice channel: “Wow, ow, ow. The Big Show with Ruben Nicolai falls even further against the World Cup. Only 709 thousand viewers is just not good enough for such an expensive show, I think between 250 and 300 thousand euros per episode.”

Wendy not back

Can Ruben continue with this program next season? Tina wonders. “In the commercial target group 20 to 54 years, still a neat 20.2 percent, but whether this program will get a second season? That will be discussed for a while. It seems highly uncertain to me.”

What does Tina think won’t get a second season anyway? The Wendy van Dijk show Song On The First Face. At the same time, that program did not exceed 359 thousand viewers (7 percent) on SBS 6.

World Cup on one

The big winner on prime time was Argentina – Mexico with 2 million viewers (40 percent) on NPO 1, followed by NPO 2’s Sterren op het Doek, in which Rob Kemps was a guest this time. 919 thousand people (18 percent) watched it.

The other prime-time winners were SBS 6’s De Oranjewinter (793 thousand and 19 percent), RTL 4’s VriendenLoterij Miljonairs (737 thousand and 18 percent), followed by the show with Ruben Nicolai.
