The 2023 NFL draft is fast approaching. The mega event in Kansas City starts on April 28th. Whose NFL dreams come true in round one? What surprises do the teams have in store? sport.de accompanies the draft in detail live ticker and keeps you up to date on what’s happening in college talent selection.
With Sebastian Vollmer, Markus Kuhn and Jan Stecker, three first-class experts are working on the NFL draft. In advance, Stecker reveals his ideas of what the top 15 in the draft could look like and gives a few reasons. And Vollmer and Kuhn also dare to forecast the first 15 picks.
Is it after Jan connector, the top 15 on April 28 looks like this:
1. Carolina Panthers –> Bryce Young, QB, Alabama
Coaches wanted Stroud, but after his poor reaction tests that have now come out, they don’t seem to want him anymore. Young has canceled all future team visits, which speaks for the Panthers.
2. Houston Texans –> Will Anderson Jr., Edge, Alabama
Wanted to be Young as QB from the start. Unfortunately, we lost the last game of the season. They don’t like Stroud, so they take the best QB hunter.
3. Arizona Cardinals –> Tyree Wilson, Edge, Texas Tech
Arizona wants to trade. If anyone finds you, take a cornerback. Gonzalez or Witherspoon. But if not, Wilson is your best bet.
4. Indianapolis Colts –> CJ Stroud, QB, Ohio State
The Colts are fed up with veteran QBs. They get their ball distributor of the future.
5. Seattle Seahawks –> Jalen Carter, DT, Georgia
Anderson and Wilson are gone. Carter screwed up at the auto race after the championship celebrations in Athens. But got off lightly again. Pete Carroll and his team know how to deal with difficult players.
6. Detroit Lions –> Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas
The man is too good not to take him. One who can also receive. The Longhorns HC said he was not only my best RB but also my best receiver. De Andre Swift is prone to injury and David Montgomery is just the replacement for Jamaal Williams.
7. Las Vegas Raiders –> Paris Johnson Jr., OT, Ohio State
Jimmy G. needs a good O-Line. Point.
8. Atlanta Falcons –> Lukas van Ness, Edge, Iowa
The Falcons were so bad at pass rush and while Van Ness only played hockey before college and still has a lot to learn, his bull rush and speed are outstanding. The man is just brutal!
9. Chicago Bears –> Broderick Jones, OT, Ohio State
Justin Fields needs a good tackle and although Jones has only had 19 starts as a tackle, he is very trainable and has impressive athleticism.
10. Philadelphia Eagles –> Nolan Smith, Edge, Georgia
The defense needs fresh blood. Smith is the classic OLB. Impressive 40 yard time: 4.39 sec. Absolute team leader. Can also be used as a pass rusher.
11. Tennessee Titans –> Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida
Incredible athlete. Richardson is probably gone already, but not with me. Ryan Tannehill’s days are numbered. One more year of coaching and Richardson is ready.
12. Houston Texans –> Jaxon Smith Njigba, WR, Ohio State
Brandin Cooks is gone. Njigba is the best in a rather weak receiver vintage.
13. Green Bay Packers –> Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame
Simply because the Packers need a TE and Mayer is from my favorite college. Then he should also go to my favorite team.
14. New England Patriots –> Peter Skoronski, OT/OG, Northwestern
Mac Jones had a lot of problems last year. Some because of the bad offense line. Skoronski can tackle and guard and is one of the best of his year.
15. New York Jets –> Darnell Wright, OT, Tennessee
Aaron Rodgers is the Jets’ new quarterback. I think he has two good years left, but he’s getting old and needs a lot of protection.
Sebastian Vollmer meanwhile suspects these talents in the first 15 picks:
1. Carolina Panthers –> Bryce Young, QB, Alabama
2. Houston Texans –> CJ Stroud, QB, Ohio State
3. Arizona Cardinals –> Will Anderson Jr., Edge, Alabama
4. Indianapolis Colts –> Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida
5. Seattle Seahawks –> Jalen Carter, DT, Georgia
6. Detroit Lions –> Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois
7. Las Vegas Raiders –> Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon
8. Atlanta Falcons –> Miles Murphy, Edge, Clemson
9. Chicago Bears –> Peter Skoronski, OT/OG, Northwestern
10. Philadelphia Eagles -> Luke Van Ness, Edge, Iowa
11. Tennessee Titans –> Will Levis, QB, Kentucky
12. Houston Texans –> Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State
13. Green Bay Packers –> Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame
14. New England Patriots –> Joey Porter Jr., CB, Penn State
15. New York Jets –> Paris Johnson Jr., OT, Ohio State
And Markus Kuhn as a result, the top 15 could look like this:
1. Carolina Panthers –> Bryce Young, QB, Alabama
2. Houston Texans –> CJ Stroud, QB, Ohio State
3. Arizona Cardinals –> Will Anderson Jr., Edge, Alabama
4. Indianapolis Colts –> Will Levis, QB, Kentucky
5. Seattle Seahawks –> Tyree Wilson, Edge, Texas Tech
6. Detroit Lions –> Jalen Carter, DT, Georgia
7. Las Vegas Raiders –> Broderick Jones, OT, Ohio State
8. Atlanta Falcons –> Anthony Richardson, QB, Fla
9. Chicago Bears –> Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois
10. Philadelphia Eagles –> Nolan Smith, Edge, Georgia
11. Tennessee Titans –> Hendon Hooker, QB, Tennessee
12. Houston Texans –> Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon
13. Green Bay Packers –> Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State
14. New England Patriots –> Joey Porter Jr., CB, Penn State
15. New York Jets –> Peter Skoronski, OT/OG, Northwestern
