Both broadcasters are programming a special program to mark the occasion. Moderator Florian König will be leading the RTL special “Farewell to the Emperor – Funeral Service for Franz Beckenbauer” from the German record champions’ stadium on Friday from 2:50 p.m. At his side is Beckenbauer’s long-time companion Günther Jauch.
The ceremony will be streamed live on RTL.de. Free tickets for the memorial ceremony in the Allianz Arena are available in the FC Bayern Munich ticket shop.
Memorial ceremony for Franz Beckenbauer: Steinmeier and Scholz come
Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will take part in the planned large memorial service for the deceased Franz Beckenbauer on Friday in Munich.
The Federal President’s Office announced that he would give a speech at the commemoration in the Allianz Arena. Steinmeier received an invitation from FC Bayern Munich President Herbert Hainer, which he accepted.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) will also take part in the funeral service. He wanted to “show his great respect and recognition for an outstanding athlete in our country,” said deputy government spokeswoman Christiane Hoffmann.
The former soccer world and European champion and DFB team boss Beckenbauer died on January 7th at the age of 78.
