RTL Boulevard has received a bizarre tip about comedian Richard Groenendijk. He is very upset about that. “I can get so mad about that, I can lie awake about that.”
Richard Groenendijk is a comedian with an impeccable image. Yet a very strong rumor about him has arrived at the editorial office of RTL Boulevard. “I was recently allowed to perform again after two years, but I had corona, so the audience had to be canceled,” he begins his story in the newspaper. Not much later Richard got on the phone with an editor of the show section. “Two days later I was called by RTL Boulevard that a ‘tip’ had come in that I had been kicked out of the gym because I had corona. I hated that so much!”
According to him, nothing is right. “I can finally start again, after two years,” he says. “Do you think I would willfully cancel my performance because I wouldn’t feel like it? And if I did, do you think I would go to the gym with my famous face?”

Richard is happy that the show section first rang the bell with him. “They didn’t think so at RTL Boulevard either. But I would have been in a lot of trouble if they hadn’t verified that report with me.”
It does a lot to Richard. “I can get so angry about that, it can keep me awake. I thought it was very mean. I wanted the number of the person who passed it on to RTL Boulevard, but it was anonymous.”
‘So weird’
Richard would never, ever do such a thing, he emphasizes. “I’ve never played truant, even stood on stage with double pneumonia. But if I were like that, I would of course never show myself anywhere else.”
“I thought it was so weird that someone made that up.”
