Jaylon Henderson played a major role in the Potsdam Royals winning the GFL title. It remains to be seen whether the quarterback will stay. He makes it clear that the American feels comfortable in Potsdam.
After winning the title in the German Bowl in American football, the Potsdam Royals are relying on quarterback Jaylon Henderson to stay. And the American is clearly not averse to staying for a second season. “I love everything here. I love the coaches, the community I live in and how I am treated here,” said the American.
The team spirit in Potsdam is a factor for Henderson. “The important thing is that I am happy here and can enjoy every single day of my life. This is more important to me than a financial amount to go somewhere else. I just want to be treated right and respected and Potsdam has done that from day one,” Henderson said.
The Royals secured the German championship title in the German Football League on Saturday in Essen with a 34:7 final against defending champions Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns. Henderson played a huge part in the success with runs (140 yards gained) and passes (102 yards) as well as three touchdowns, which he scored himself. His election as MVP (Most Valuable Player) was logical.
The Texan, who played on college and university teams in the USA, came to Potsdam at the start of the season. In addition to his long throws of over 40 yards, Henderson’s trademark (12 overall, 3 in the German Bowl) was his unusually frequent touchdown runs for a quarterback.
