Korfball club KIOS Ruinerwold received the Royal Medal of Honor today. This was done by the King’s Commissioner in Drenthe, Jetta Klijnsma. The medal of honor was awarded because of the 102-year anniversary of the association and the achievements of the club.
The Royal award was originally supposed to be awarded on March 11, 2020, because the korfball association from Ruinerwold was 100 years old at the time. At that time, the coronavirus threw a spanner in the works. Today was a suitable moment for the award ceremony.
KIOS receives the award not only because of the age of 102. KIOS is a member of the municipal sports forum and regularly attends evenings in the municipal council of De Wolden. In addition, the korfball club supported the arrival of the new sports hall in Ruinerwold.
For the past 25 years, KIOS has been prominent in the Dutch korfball world. For example, the association supplies referees to the KNKV korfball association.
