Royal maple planted in the zoo

Queen Elizabeth II (96) did not stop by the zoo. But there was still a gift!

British Ambassador Jill Gallard (53) planted a fire maple near Friedrichsfelde Palace on Thursday. The reason is the Queen’s 70th jubilee.

The initiative “The Queen’s Green Canopy” wants to create a lasting legacy for the monarch with this campaign. Tree plantings in other places in the country are to follow.

“A tree is a beautiful metaphor for Anglo-German relations, for change and stability,” said the ambassador. The maple was donated by the Association of German Tree Nurseries. The patronage of the initiative has heirs to the throne Prince Charles (73) accepted.
