Royal holidays: for rent at the home of Carlo and Camilla

In fact, it seems that even King Charles II of England this summer has become seriously passionate about short-term rentals Airbnb.

Scotland, Nortfolk, Wales, Cornwall as well as being all great places, now they are also places where you can stay in cottages and royal residences which, despite what one might think, are not necessarily super luxurious, but certainly offer stays away from the madding crowd, furnished with simplicity and British taste.

At Charles and Camilla’s home in Wales

Carlo and Camilla spend a couple of weeks a year in theirs secluded Llwynywermod estate in Carmarthenshire. Was bought priced at £1.2m in 2007 and included two cottages available to rent, North Range and West Rangecosting between £1,400 and £2,400 a week depending on the time of year.

The former is situated within a courtyard adjacent to the Welsh royal residence of Llwynywermod, and is a charming converted barn available for occasional holiday lettings. It is furnished to match the style of the property, with a mix of period and contemporary furniturei including many Welsh pieces and local fabrics.

Ideal for walkers, the cottages are surrounded by 90 acres of grounds and within easy reach of the Breacon Beacons National Park. Surprisingly, however, although the queen has always surrounded herself with them in all her residences and Charles and Camilla have two, dogs are not allowed here.

The Balmoral estate

There royal family is in love with Balmoral: Tucked away in the Cairngorms National Park in Crathie, Aberdeenshire, the 50,000-acre estate was purchased by Prince Albert in 1852. More recently, it was one of the happiest places for the Queen and Prince Philipwho spent many weeks there between the end of summer and autumn.

This wonderful place can also be rented today, staying in the historic estate of Colt Cottages, Connachat Cottage, Karim Cottage, Knocks Cottage, Rhebreck Lodge, Garbh Allt Shiel, Sterinbeg and Tigh Na Garaidh, depending on the type.

The most convenient are the Colt Cottagesnear the castle. The most expensive is Rhebreck Lodge: Quietly located in Easter Balmoral, enjoying wonderful views across the valley towards Crathie Church. Cottage prices range from £645 in the smallest cottage during the off season in 1975 in one of the larger cottages during the Christmas season.

Royal holidays in the Castle of Mey

The late Queen Mother fell for his isolated charm after hearing it was abandoned. She bought it in 1952, restored it and used the castle as her summer residence. The estate has two properties available to the public: The Captain’s House and the luxurious Granary Lodge.

The Captain’s House is an independent holiday home which it can sleep six people in two double bedrooms and one twin and has a kitchenette and a winter Garden. The price varies depending on the time of year. In February, seven nights of travel will cost £943; in August the price rises to 1345.

Visitors can also stay at the Granary Lodge Bed and Breakfast on the estate, located between the Castle and the sea. This was opened in May 2019 by King Charles. It has 10 rooms, including two suites. With views across the Pentland Firth towards Orkney, Mey is the northernmost inhabited castle on the British mainland.
