Royal award for volunteer football association NKVV Dalerpeel

Jan Winkel, born in Oosterhesselen, has been decorated as a member of the Order of Orange-Nassau. He was put in the spotlight because of his years of work as a volunteer at various associations.

Since 2003, Winkel (83) has been part of the handyman team of the New Crimean Football Association (NKVV) from Dalerpeel. He was also leader of the club’s third and fourth teams. In addition, he was on the board of the ice cream association Nooitgedacht in Dalerpeel for 33 years.

In the 1980s, Winkel was also a member of the board of the Dutch Reformed Church and of the board of Speeltuin de Speelkoele in Dalerpeel for several years.

Winkel received the decoration from mayor Renze Bergsma of the municipality of Coevorden. That happened in the half-time of an anniversary match of NKVV.
