Anje Rutgers from Assen was appointed Member of the Order of Orange Nassau tonight. She received the royal honor because of her work at Sports Club Bartje, where people with a physical disability can play sports.
Rutgers has been coaching the swimmers of the Asser sports club every week for 23 years. She has also been active as a volunteer at the Vanboeijen healthcare organization for over 20 years. “Every resident would wish for an Anje to stand next to you,” praises the Vanboeijen de Assense team.
Rutgers received the ribbon during a festive meeting of Sports Club Bartje in the Hofsteenge hall center in Grolloo. Deputy Mayor Martin Rasker of the municipality of Assen presented the royal award.
