Roy Donders is done with Erica, Martien and Maxime Meiland. He dropped out of their programs on SBS 6, because according to the reality star it has become a huge repetition of moves.
For years, Roy Donders’ reality series was a great success on Dutch television. First at RTL 5, later at SBS 6. Stylist van het Zuiden was disconnected in 2017 and since then he has been somewhat forgotten. Nowadays, the Meilandjes are the big stars in the reality genre. What does Roy think of them?
Roy finished with Meilandjes
Roy is no longer a fan of the Meilandjes. “I have seen the first and second season of Chateau Meiland, but after that I gave up. I felt it was always the same and that started to bore me a bit,” says the stylist in conversation with the Weekend.
Is he jealous of the Maidens? Partly because of them, he no longer intervenes. “In any case, I don’t really have in mind to make reality again, but if that were the case, I think: everyone has their own following and fans. I think I have a very different following than the Meiland family.”
‘I scored very well’
Roy no longer has the urge to return to television and score high viewing figures, just like the Meilandjes. “I never really looked at ratings. My reality series did score really well and I want to leave it at that. I don’t want to compare myself to anyone.”
He does like to watch the Gillis family, the other reality family of SBS 6. “I watch that every episode, yes, haha! That appeals to me more because it is simply delicious Brabant: nice and flat. I like that.”
