Status: 06/19/2022 3:12 p.m

The Germany eight started the World Cup season with a commanding victory.

The German flagship around batsman Mattes Schönherr (Potsdam) prevailed on Sunday (June 19, 2022) in Poznan, Poland, with a clear start-finish success against Australia and Poland.

The young team, which changed six positions compared to 2021, dictated the race from the start and won by a three-quarter boat length lead. “We delivered a very good race. It’s a lot of fun when the race plan works out so early. The effective and joint course shot that we found was the secret of our success.”said the new helmsman Jonas Wiesen.

Only medal for DRV

However, that was the only sense of achievement for the German Rowing Association. The overall young German fleet did not manage to win another medal in the heat on Lake Malta.

EM and World Cup later this year

After the World Cup in Lucerne (July 8th to 10th) and the European Championships in Munich (August 11th to 13th), the World Championships in Racice are on the agenda from September 18th to 25th.
