DÜSSELDORF (dpa-AFX) – A cargo plane from the airline Royal Jordanian landed unscheduled in Düsseldorf due to an engine failure. According to federal police, the plane was on its way from Maastricht in the Netherlands to Amman in Jordan. Shortly after takeoff, a bird strike occurred, a spokesman said.
It was said that the engine was significantly damaged. The federal police spoke of the incident as a so-called safety landing. A spokesman for the airport described the landing as “safe and controlled.” The airport fire department was deployed as a precautionary measure.
