Rot-Weiss Essen brings Björn Rother from Hansa Rostock

3rd professional station

Rot-Weiss Essen will be strengthened for the coming third division season with Björn Rother from Hansa Rostock. As RWE announced on Saturday, the 25-year-old, who is mainly used in defensive midfield, signed a working paper until 2024. After the end of his contract with the second division club, he will move on a free transfer.

Sporting director Jörn Nowak said: “With Björn Rother we get the type of player that we were specifically looking for and that we haven’t had in the squad yet. At the age of 25, he has already proven his quality in numerous second and third division games. In addition, because of his previous positions in Magdeburg and Rostock, he knows exactly which virtues are required in traditional clubs. We are convinced that Björn is a good fit for us and we are happy that he is with us.”

Rother, who is the third newcomer, said about his third professional position: “I absolutely wanted to continue playing for a traditional club and I am therefore very happy that I am now with RWE. I’ve played a few games in the 3rd league so I know what’s important in this league. I’m convinced that I can help this big club and I’ll do everything I can to establish Rot-Weiss Essen in professional football.
