That had happened
The driver of a car with Rostock license plates and the 55-year-old Hertha fan are said to have gotten into an argument on the night of May 19 after the relegation game between Hertha and Hamburger SV at the intersection of Rominter Allee and Olympic Street.
When the Hertha fan wanted to continue walking, the passenger in the car, who is said to have been wearing a shirt with the Hansa Rostock club logo, hit him. The 55-year-old fell, hit his head on the road and suffered the serious injuries he succumbed to in hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
The alleged perpetrator is said to have fled on foot. The BMW driver drove off on the Olympische Straße in the direction of the Reichsstraße, it was said. The police are now looking for more witnesses.
