Rostock extended with promotion coach

The Rostock Seawolves continue to rely on coach Christian Held in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL).

The contract with the 34-year-old, who had led the club to their first promotion to the top flight last year, has extended his expiring contract by another year until 2024.

“My goal is to build something here in Rostock in the long term and to consolidate the structures,” said Held: “It’s incredibly important to me personally that you see a development, both financially and in terms of sport.”

Held came to Rostock in 2020 and initially worked as an assistant to the former national coach Dirk Bauermann. For the 2021/22 season, Held became head coach and led Rostock to the championship in the 2nd division (ProA), which was associated with promotion. The Seawolves sit tenth in the table after 24 games with a balanced record of 12 wins and 12 losses.
