Roskomnadzor sent a letter to Google demanding to unblock the channel of the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin on YouTube as soon as possible. About this department reported on the site.
The regulator considered that the video hosting administration violated the principles of freedom of information dissemination and unhindered access to it. Along with the demand to unblock, Roskomnadzor demanded to explain the reasons for the restrictions.
YouTube blocked Pushilin’s channel on the afternoon of February 23rd. The hosting said that the account owner violated the rules of the community, but did not specify which ones.
This happened two days after Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree recognizing the independence of the Donbass republics within the boundaries of the administrative Donetsk and Lugansk regions. The authorities of the United States and European countries condemned the recognition because of the violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and imposed a number of sanctions against Russia.
