Rösch sees DSV well positioned with Kirchner successors

According to relay Olympic champion Michael Rösch (39), the German biathlon men are well positioned as national coach with Uros Velepec and Jens Filbrich succeeding Mark Kirchner.

“Uros was very well received in the team with his style. He’s a cool guy, speaks German relatively well and has been through many coaching positions. In addition, Uros is very progressive and has brought in many new training methods,” Rösch said in an interview with “Eurosport ” about Kirchner’s previous assistants.

“I’ve heard a lot of positive things about Jens Filbrich. I can well imagine that the two complement each other well – that should work.”

Kirchner announced his retirement after the season finale in Oslo. “I think he feels that a breath of fresh air is needed in the coaching team,” said Rösch. “I think it’s a good and fair decision. He’s been in charge for a long time and maybe he’s realized that he’s not reaching the team like he used to be.”
