Rosalía presents her new song “Despechá” as part of her tour for her new album MOTOMAMI, which was released in March. The single release is one of 16 songs. You can listen to the track below.
There are many ways to be despehá, in this case it’s the freedom or the madness of moving without reservations or regrets. This is where I make music from, where I made it from before when I started, and will continue to do so until God stops me. I’m grateful to have been able to travel and learn from the music of other places over the past few years, including the DR, where artists like Fefita La Grande, Juan Luis Guerra and Omega have inspired me and without whom this song would not exist .
Rosalía’s debut album LOS ÁNGELES was released in 2016. This contained flamenco classics that she gave a new modern twist. The record peaked at number nine on the Spanish Albums Chart. After three more singles, she finally released EL MAL QUERER in 2018 with tracks inspired by the 13th century Occitan novella “Le Roman de Flamenca”. The singer and actress gained a lot of attention, especially for her music videos.
