Roosendaal also temporarily receives refugees from Ter Apel

Fifty refugees who are staying in the asylum seekers’ center in Ter Apel are temporarily housed in Roosendaal. “Places to receive people are very scarce. But the current situation in Ter Apel is distressing,” said alderman René van Ginderen.

It is not yet known where the asylum seekers will be received. The municipality first wants to personally inform people who live in the vicinity of the reception location. It is known that this is a temporary location, where refugees can stay for at least three months.

The municipality of Roosendaal wants to take responsibility, says mayor Han van Midden. “The situation in Ter Apel is unheard of and unprecedented for a country like the Netherlands.”

Roosendaal stands out in the list
Refugees are being taken in from Ter Apel in more and more places. Earlier it became clear, among other things, that Oss offers 80 places, Eindhoven 100 and Breda 50. In the latter city, the number can be doubled.

Roosendaal is a remarkable name in the list. That municipality has not received any asylum seekers in the past twelve years, the De wrote NOS at the end of April. That would apply to three of the fifty largest municipalities; in addition to Roosendaal, it concerns Delft and Westland.
