Former Member of Parliament and former pension fund manager Roos Vermeij will become chairman of the pensions transition committee. This independent committee will support trade unions and employers in discussions about the new pension schemes. The Minister for Poverty Policy, Participation and Pensions Carola Schouten has appointed her together with the other members.

The committee also consists of Evert Verhulp (former SER member of the Crown and professor of employment law at the UvA), Petra de Bruijn (CAO negotiator, pension administrator and pension supervisor), Stef Vermeulen (Master actuary at pension provider PGGM) and Henriëtte de Lange (former ombudsman pensions and now board secretary at the Juridisch Loket).

Committee chairman Roos Vermeij: Now that the new pension law comes into effect, a transitional phase of several years will begin. Employers and employees will make agreements with each other about their pension scheme and then pension administrators will implement these agreements. It is very important that this is done carefully and that the social partners are also well supported in this. I look forward to contributing to this together with the rest of the committee.

During the talks about the transition to the new system, the transition committee can mediate with social partners and/or give binding advice. In the composition of the committee, therefore, consideration was given to expertise in the field of pensions and terms of employment, actuarial expertise, knowledge of and experience with mediation processes and knowledge of and experience with negotiation processes.
