Youtube star Roni Bäck, 29, has published a video on his channel in which he talks about his first hundred days as a father. The first child of Bäck and ex-badminton player Airi Mikkelä was born in January. In the video, Bäck says that many kinds of emotions have fit into one hundred days.

After the first week, fatigue was the dominant mood for both the new father and mother. Bäck tells his friends that he got angry at this point.

– We were fired for something other than supervision. I was so mad at all my dad friends. I yelled at them why didn’t you tell me how hard this is. My friends just answered that Roni, that’s a bit of a matter. Fathers don’t tell future fathers how hard it is to have children. Otherwise, people would die out, says Bäck.

Fatherhood has also felt like physical changes.

– It feels like I have aged ten years in the last three months, not mentally but physically. The face just swells up and looks tired, and every place itches. The “dad body” is not a myth, Bäck states in the video.

Hospital trip

The first hundred days as a father have also included worries, because the baby had to be hospitalized on Women’s Day at the beginning of March. When Bäck cooked dinner on the evening of Women’s Day, Mikkelä shouted that we had to go to the hospital now.

– The baby developed health problems. When we called the hospital they said do you want to come tomorrow morning. We said that if our baby is sick, we can’t come until the next morning, says Bäck.

The couple received a private referral to the New Children’s Hospital. At midnight, the family got back home, so the situation was quickly over.

Despite the worries and fatigue, fatherhood has mainly been a wonderful experience for the boy.

– Simply waking up next to your own child and he is happy and laughing brings happiness, says Bäck.
