It has never stopped since his mysterious radio absence in May: the wild rumors going around about Ron Brandsteder and his health. According to medium Liesbeth van Dijk, there is something seriously wrong with the presenter and RTL Boulevard expert Rob Goossens hopes that Ron will even make it to Christmas next year.

Smoke from monitor

In any case, there is little chance that we will hear or see Ron on radio or television. He was last heard on NPO Radio 5 last night, because his weekly program was canceled for vague reasons. “I’m not going to cry. There is no reason for this, but it is something to think about,” says Ron in his final broadcast.

He continues: “Thank you for all your kind wishes and nice compliments, because my screen is already starting to warm up a little bit here. I can already see a little bit of smoke coming out of the monitors, because we have a lot of messages and thank you very much for that, also on behalf of Frans and Martijn.”

65 years of disc jockey

Ron is saying goodbye after a long career. “I have been a disc jockey for almost 65 years and that is of course unbelievable, but I was 6 and I was already a DJ then, but we did not know that term yet. Didier was just a beautiful French name. I had one of those suitcase record players with the speaker in the lid and the teacher let me take it to school.”

That’s where it all started. Much later he was allowed to play records in one or another stand at the RAI. “I was discovered there by Ivo Niehe and overnight I became a game show presenter of the Showbizquiz. Now I am 74 and I played the last records on Friday evening at MAX on Radio 5.”

‘I will miss you’

Ron receives a lot of reactions from viewers in his last broadcast. “There were many who said: ‘I will miss you’, and rest assured that I will miss you all too, because I really enjoyed experiencing the weekly contact live with you, and with you together. to be able to listen to beautiful music.”

His very last words? “You’re all doing well. Bye-bye.”

Clickbait crap

And about the rumors about his health? Not a word. But from MAX producer Merel van Dijk. He’s quite angry about it. “What a bunch of old nonsense this is…is it okay for that man to have an ailment or not have his day every now and then if he’s 70+? His program simply stops due to the new programming.”

This happens on more NPO channels, according to Merel. “And he may be disappointed about that. Clickbaitcrap this, yuck 😒,” she writes X. “No worries or guessing, Ron made a beautiful, loving last radio broadcast yesterday
NPO Radio 5. Of course he is sad that he has to stop, but he is okay with it after 65 years of career.”
