The Gamper trophy becomes a case. In fact, Roma announced in a press release that they had to renounce the friendly (indeed the friendlies, male and female) scheduled for August 6 “in order to create the best possible working conditions, in view of the next season”, then specifying that “both teams will continue their preparation path through other commitments, less impacting in terms of travel, which will be communicated as soon as they are defined”. The statement concludes as follows: “We thank FC Barcelona for the invitation, to whom the Club wishes a good continuation of summer preparation”.

But on the other hand they didn’t take it well. In fact, a statement appeared on the Barça website underlining how Roma “decided to unilaterally and without reason terminate the contract agreed by both parties” for the Gamper trophy. The Blaugrana have made it known that they are already looking for new opponents and that in the next 24 hours the refund of the money already spent by the fans for tickets will begin, clarifying then that the affair “is out of Barcelona’s control, but Roma’s responsibility”. that “the club’s legal department is studying possible actions against the Italian club for the damage caused to Barcelona and its fans for this unexpected and unjustified decision”.
