Romanian company manager (43) from Anzegem in prison for human trafficking and undeclared work
The man is a suspect in a judicial investigation into human trafficking through economic exploitation, undeclared work, organized bogus self-employment and benefit fraud with the bridging right during the corona crisis.
Detention extended
Yesterday morning, the council chamber in Bruges has already extended his arrest by a month. It concerns two Romanian families who are active in demolition works and in companies that sort waste. They recruit compatriots who were housed here in dubious conditions. The victims are also underpaid for their work. That is why house searches were carried out last week in Anzegem, Deerlijk and Kortrijk. One of the families involved was previously convicted of similar offences.
