Chelsea announced Saturday night that the club’s Russian owner Roman Abramovich has handed over the leadership of the London giant to others.

– During my nearly 20 years of ownership, I have always seen my role as the caretaker of the club, whose mission is to ensure that we thrive today as well as possible while building the future and playing a positive role in our community. I remain committed to these values. That’s why today I am giving Chelsea charitable care to trustees, Abramovitsh says in a press release on the club’s website.

– I think they currently have the best opportunity to take care of the interests of the club, the players, the staff and the fans, the man decided.

Abramovich’s position in Chelsea has been on the wallpaper since Russia invaded Ukraine. In the British Parliament, for example, it has been suggested that the country should confiscate Abramovich’s property and prevent him from owning Chelsea.

In Britain, it is believed that the Russian billionaire belongs to the Russian president Vladimir Putin to a circle of acquaintances.

A company owned by Abramovich bought Chelsea in June 2003. The man has pumped huge amounts of money into the company, which has also brought success. In Abramovich’s era, Chelsea has won five Premier League championships, five FA Cups, three League Cups, twice the Champions League and twice the Europa League, among others.

Chelsea’s next game is on Sunday as the team faces the Liverpool League Cup final.
