Roman Abramovich had $ 7 billion hidden on a tiny island

The funds have now been frozen.

Bloomberg reports that Roman Abramovichilla is as much as $ 7 billion (about € 6.4 billion) in tax havens.

The British government froze the assets of oligarch Abramovich when Russia launched a war of aggression against Ukraine. Abramovich belongs to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin related parties, so significant sanctions were imposed on the oligarch.

Now the Jersey court has also decided to suspend all of Abramovich’s accounts. The 116 square kilometer jersey off the coast of France is known as a true tax haven island.

According to Bloomberg, Abramovich’s total net assets are about $ 13.9 billion (about 12.8 billion euros).

Sanctions against Abramovich have put his football club Chelsea in a tight spot. Chelsea is not allowed to do business, that is, to sell tickets, fan products, buy or sell players for its home matches. The club cannot offer extension contracts to current players either.

In addition, Chelsea will have to travel for the rest of the season with a well-limited travel budget of around £ 20,000 per match.
