In order to present their current album “Hackney Diamonds” live, the Rolling Stones are starting a tour through North America in April 2024 and have hired reinforcements for this. As a backgroud singer, they hired Chanel Haynes, a Tina Turner impersonator who also starred in the British “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical.” The musician has been regularly supporting the Stones on stage since 2022.
Regular collaboration arose from spontaneous efforts
Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Chanel Haynes made their first appearance together in Milan in 2022 with the classic “Gimme Shelter”. She had taken on the role of backgroud singer Merry Clayton at the last second, because she couldn’t be there. Although she had little time to rehearse a worthy performance, the musical actress impressed both the band and the audience and was also used at the following concerts to sing exactly this track – “Gimme Shelter” is particularly characterized by the female track Background choir.

Shortly after the release of “Hackney Diamonds” she was on stage with the band several times and sang “Gimme Shelter”. Haynes regularly posted updates of the Stones and their joint concerts on her Instagram channel and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be there. She was also there at the surprise concert for the record release in New York, where Lady Gaga also sang for “Sweet Sounds of Heaven”.

It is now clear that the artist will also be on the “Hackney Diamonds” tour and will go on a two-month stadium tour through America with the Rolling Stones in spring 2024. She posted a tour poster with all the upcoming cities and dates, the first concert is April 28 in Houston. What exactly it will be used for at the shows has not yet been announced.
