For fans of the Rolling Stones, the long wait for new music will soon be over: “Hackney Diamonds” will be the name of their first studio album since “A Bigger Bang” from 2005 and it will be available on an exclusive YouTube channel on Wednesday (September 6th). Live stream presented worldwide. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood will be on stage with Jimmy Fallon in London’s Hackney district. According to the band’s official press release, the location should be “the focus” of the new album. The plan is to chat about the new music and the new era of the Rolling Stones.
Rolling Stones: When and where will the live stream take place?
The live stream will start in Germany on September 6th, 2023 at 3:30 p.m. The event will be available worldwide for free via YouTube – there is already an announcement with Jimmy Fallon on the live stream page, which increases the anticipation for the new album.
The announcement was preceded by several teasers on social media. There was also a foretaste of the new song “Don’t Get Angry With Me”.
Charlie Watts’ last recordings were also used for “Hackney Diamonds”.
Keith Richards revealed to Rolling Stone last year that the band’s upcoming project would include the final recordings of their longtime drummer Charlie Watts. He died in 2021. Steve Jordan, who replaced Watts live, will probably also be heard on the new album. Paul McCartney may also have worked on “Hackney Diamonds”.
The British newspaper “Hackney Gazette” recently published an advertisement for a company called “Hackney Diamonds” – the text contained a number of references to Stones hits that should put fans on the right track: “Our friendly staff promises you satisfaction. When you say gimme shelter, we’ll fix your shattered windows.” Also read: “Opening September 2023” – so it was already obvious that the release of the new album was imminent.
