Ride is a British shoegazing band from Oxford, formed in 1988 by Mark Gardener (guitar, vocals), Andy Bell (guitar, vocals), Steve Queralt (bass) and Laurence Colbert (drums). In 1989, after touring as an opening act for the Soup Dragons, Alan McGee became aware of them from Creation Records and signed them. Gardener wrote just one more song for her fourth album “Tarantula” (1995) – the rest was written by Bell. Ride broke up before the record was released. “Tarantula” met with a lot of criticism and had to be withdrawn just a week later. Finally, in 2001, Ride reunited for a Channel 4 documentary about Sonic Youth.
