Photographer Annie Leibovitz signs an issue of ROLLING STONE with her picture of John Lennon and Yoko Ono

The American ROLLING STONE is auctioning off an original issue of the magazine 335 with John Lennon and Yoko Ono on the cover. The cover photo shows the ex-Beatle naked, curled up next to his wife. Annie Leibovitz recorded it in New York a few hours before his assassination in December 1980.
The booklet with this cover was published in January 1981, shortly after Lennon was shot by a fan. The edition is very popular among collectors and can only rarely be found. ROLLING STONE found a stack of issues in its archives. One of them can be bid for online starting today, December 5th. The booklet was signed by ROLLING STONE founder Jann Wenner and shows only slight signs of wear.
The auction runs until December 16th. The starting bid for the issue is $1,000. Proceeds go to organizations that fight against gun violence. here can be offered.
John Lennon first appeared on the cover of US ROLLING STONE in 1967. A year later, he and Ono made the front page naked.
