Together for a greener future: Milky Chance will open the Greentech Festival 2022 on June 22nd with an exclusive Telekom Street Gig. ROLLING STONE and Telekom will bring the music highlight to the stage together. In the Berlin power plant, the folktronica duo will play new songs as well as their biggest hits. Telekom will broadcast the show live from 7 p.m. on the #dabei channel on MagentaTV. Fans can also experience the performance in the free live stream on MagentaMusiker.
Christian Loefert, Head of Communications and Sales Marketing at Telekom Deutschland: “The Greentech Festival is one of the pioneering platforms for sustainability. Together with Milky Chance as one of the pioneers for an environmentally conscious music business, the festival and the ROLLING STONE we want to set an example for a green future. We are delighted to once again be able to offer our customers and all music fans a real musical highlight with the Street Gig.”
Sebastian Zabel, ROLLING STONE Editor-in-Chief: “Pop music and environmental protection have a tradition that is as long as the history of Rolling Stone. From Joni Mitchell’s ‘Big Yellow Taxi’ to Marvin Gaye’s ‘Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)’, Anohni’s ‘4 Degrees’ to The Weather Station’s ‘Atlantic’, green themes have always been pop themes. We want to support artists who follow words and chords with deeds and who pursue sustainable concepts and strategies.”
As part of the Greentech Festival, ROLLING STONE is therefore honoring the commitment of outstanding artists who work with green concepts for more sustainability for the first time this year. “For us, Milky Chance are among the pioneers and role models. For us, this honor is not about awarding another prize that the respective artist can put on the shelf, but about creating attention and encouraging other artists to act,” says Zabel.
With great commitment, Milky Chance campaigned to make the music business more environmentally friendly. Their initiative “Milky Change” was founded almost a year and a half ago in order to become more sustainable as a band. Since then, a dedicated sustainability manager has made the duo’s touring as climate-neutral as possible. For example, before each tour they plant trees to help reduce the carbon footprint. The concert at the Greentech Festival is an affair of the heart for Clemens Rehbein and Phillip Dausch.
“In addition to the business focus, the festival feeling plays a central role for us – good, vegan food, an exciting location, inspiring experiences and of course good music. We are all the more looking forward to working with Telekom, Rolling Stone and of course Milky Chance,” says Greentech Festival co-founder Marco Voigt. “Bringing great partners together and creating unique encounters from them – that’s what we stand for, true to our motto #TogetherWeChange.”
