The Irish woman directed the video herself. The record HIT PARADE comes out in September.
Róisín Murphy has released a new single and music video called “Fader”. The song is already the third release from the forthcoming album HIT PARADE, which will be released on September 8th. Murphy traveled to her hometown of Arklow, County Wicklos, for the clip, which saw the 49-year-old Irishwoman directing herself. The town’s residents participated in the shooting by blocking the streets and staging a street parade.
Róisín Murhy says of Fader: “I felt like I needed a totally authentic space in which to faders could perform. The song is about life, death and music and so I went back to where it all began for me. As with the music, there’s a huge hip-hop influence in the video, and for me to really show that, it had to sound real, so my hometown of Arklow was the only option.”
Róisín Murphy’s upcoming record HIT PARADE
HIT PARADE was created in collaboration with German producer DJ Koze and is scheduled for release on September 8th, 2023. The work contains 13 tracks that mix hip hop elements with psychedelic and elegantly grooving influences.
The Irish singer has this to say about her collaboration with Hamburg-based Koze: “We worked remotely, in different countries, sending tracks and ideas back and forth for several years. I always approach a new collaboration with an open mind and a willingness to learn, and that has never been more important than with this one.” The physical distance between the two artists allowed Murphy to approach the record with a special intimacy. “I told this album my secrets,” she says. DJ Koze also benefited from independence. “He went deep into himself, and I think that’s why the music is so vibrant and alive,” adds Murphy.
“Fader” is after “The Universe” and “CooCool‘ the third single from HIT PARADE.
The cover art for the record has already been shared. It looks like this:
