Rogue is through to the next round of the playoffs in the European League of Legends league LEC. The team has only lost one game against Misfits Gaming and is only one series away from the final.
“It was a weird series. I felt like we didn’t have to do much,” Rogue’s Emil “Larssen” Larsson said after the series. “In some places it almost felt too easy.”
The duel actually promised excitement: Rogue, as the leader of the table after the regular season, went into the first best-of-five series of the playoffs as a favorite. But Misfits had also shown that they could turn losing games in their favor.
Rogue dominates the launch
In the first game of the best-of-five series, Rogue followed up on the strong performance from the regular season. Misfits stayed in the game for a long time, but Rogue kept the upper hand and played the lead dominantly to win.
Rogue carried over the performance into the next game. Misfits couldn’t do anything about the flawless style of play and found themselves trailing 0-2. For Rogue, that meant the match point.
Misfits still with odds
But Misfits was unimpressed and fought back: With strategically strong moves, the team built up an early lead and reduced the deficit to 1:2 in just 23 minutes.
The fourth game was just as clear, but this time for Rogue – with a convincing performance, the team is in the semifinals of the LEC. Misfits isn’t eliminated yet though: the team still has a chance to fight their way to the finals in the lower bracket.
